The ecosystem supports a great variety of flora and fauna. You want to see the popular big five; the Lion, the Elephant, the Rhino, the Leopard and the Buffalo makes it one of the reasons the world converges at the Mara any time of the Month of the year. No specific time to visit but any time you think of it, make a step and you will be welcomed for your wildlife viewing and bird watching. It is friendly the year round. Plains game also abound. The Impalas, Zebras, Gazelles, Kudus, Dikdik, Antelopes, hyenas, warthogs, and the Jackals, just give a glimpse of what you expect to see. The hippopotamus, the crocodiles and the likes, also have their say in the waters of Mara River. Talk of birdlife as an ornithologist to say so; you will find a wide variety of bird species such as the crown bird, Marabou stork, Ostrich-the great runner, Secretary birds, weaver birds, wood peckers, Vultures, and many others. Your accommodation will be either at one of the finest game lodges, luxury tented camps or basic tented camps depending on your budget. These facilities offer authentic gastronomic experience. Drinks such as beer, wines and sodas are in plenty but sold separately as extras. The weather is welcoming and friendly all year round. It is not that extremely cold or hot as in other parts of Europe. Believe it, it is friendly and do not require heavy clothing. But some clothing just to keep you warm will be ideal. You may decide to have your cap on or head cover or none at all. This is the Mara.

AT LAKE NAKURU NATIONAL PARK, you will meet a huge population of pink flamingos which basically makes reason for the visit. In addition, a great population of the Waterbucks will meet your attention. This is a rare species found only in this park. For a better view of the Lake bed painted pink, climb the Baboon cliff which is a raised platform from where you view the Lake bed. Here you can also share and crack jokes with some naughty Baboons and Monkeys. Accommodation will be either in a lodge inside the park or a hotel outside the park in Nakuru Town.

AT MOUNT KENYA, remember that this is the highest Mountain in Kenya and second highest in Africa after Mount Kilimanjaro of Tanzania with snow capped peak. The only perfect place to see the snow any time of the year. It is an ancient extinct volcano, which during its period of activity is thought to have risen to 6,500m. There are twelve remnant glaciers on the Mountain, all receding rapidly, and four secondary peaks that sit at the head of the U-Shaped glacial valleys. With its rugged glacier-clad summits and forested middle slopes, Mount Kenya is one of the most impressive landscapes in East Africa. This mountain is loved by mountain climbers. Climbing Mount Kenya is for those who are adventurous and strong enough to take the 5,199m to reach its peak. The Mountain has three main peaks; Batian at 5,200m, Nelion at 5,188m and Lenana at 4,985m. Mountain climbers must undergo acclimatization before climbing to reduce the risk of altitude sickness. The best Months for climbing are January, February, August and September, for those who wish to savor the Mountain air, the glorious views and the peace and tranquility that emanate from the Mountain. There are many hotels and lodges around the foothills. Mount Kenya is a world heritage site as inscribed by UNESCO.

AT OL PEJETA HOUSE, remember that this is one of the best kept secrets and originally the home of famed multi-millionaire, Adnan Khashoggi. Ol Pajeta House is a beautiful private house set within the pristine calm of Ol Pajeta Conservancy. If one of your ambitions is to retreat back to history, to by-gone traditions of Kenya’s farmhouse hospitality, then Ol Pajeta House is the place to be.
